The Wall Street Journal: Mexican president cancels U.S. trip amid wall dispute

In a scene that won’t be repeated soon, Donald Trump and Enrique Pena Nieto shake hands.

MEXICO CITY — Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto canceled his planned visit to the U.S. next week after U.S. President Donald Trump increased pressure on Mexico to pay for the wall he wants built on the southern border.

Peña Nieto said on Twitter on Thursday that his administration notified the White House that he won’t meet with Trump Tuesday, as originally planned.

The cancellation came after Trump tweeted earlier in the day that “If Mexico is unwilling to pay for the badly needed wall, then it would be better to cancel the upcoming meeting.
