The Wall Street Journal: SoftBank considers $1 billion investment in WeWork

SoftBank Group Corp. is weighing an investment of well over $1 billion in shared-office space company WeWork Cos., in what could be among the first deals from its new $100 billion technology fund, according to people familiar with the matter.

WeWork, a seven-year-old company valued by investors at nearly $17 billion last year, is one of many richly valued private companies that recently has held discussions with the Japanese investment giant.

SoftBank 9984, -0.61% previously has discussed an investment in WeWork before pulling out, two people familiar with the discussions said, and talks may not lead to a deal this time.
