The Wall Street Journal: Univision channels go dark on Charter cable after deal talks break down

Spanish-language broadcaster Univision Communications Inc. has pulled its channels from Charter Communications Inc. after the two companies couldn’t come to an agreement on carriage fees.

Univision told Charter CHTR, -0.26% to pull its signals shortly after midnight on Feb. 1, blacking out the Univision broadcast network for more than 2.5 million Charter subscribers in 37 markets including Los Angeles and New York. The dispute also means about 17 million Charter cable customers won’t have access to Univision’s cable channels such as Univision Deportes Network and El Rey.

The fight pits the largest Spanish-language broadcaster in the U.S. against Charter, the second-largest cable company by subscribers after Comcast Corp.
