The Wall Street Journal: David Shulkin unanimously confirmed to lead Veterans Affairs

WASHINGTON — The Senate easily confirmed Dr. David Shulkin on Monday night to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs in a rare bipartisan show of support.

Shulkin, who has been in charge of the VA’s health-care system, will be the first nonveteran to head the sprawling department. He was confirmed by the Senate Monday night in a 100-0 vote.

Shulkin is one of a small handful of President Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees to receive significant bipartisan support. Democrats have used procedural tactics to delay the installation of many of Trump’s most contentious nominees, but they can’t block confirmations without GOP defections.
