Deep Dive: Small-cap fund manager tunes out market ‘noise’ in bid to find quality companies

Investors can get too caught up in the daily stress of tracking the U.S. stock market’s rise to new highs. Ralph Bassett, head of North American Equities for Aberdeen Asset Management, prefers “focusing on company specifics and ignoring the market noise.”

Bassett, who helps manage the $1.7 billion Aberdeen U.S. Small Cap Equity Fund from Philadelphia, shared three of his favorite stocks held by the fund in an interview Feb. 14:
