Why Hollywood actors (and everyone else) should hide their age from employers

‘Parks and Recreation’ character Jerry Gergich often tried to fit in with his younger colleagues.

A California federal judge on Wednesday effectively overturned a state statue that said actors could hide their real ages on the widely-viewed Internet Movie Data Base.

The U.S. District Court of the Northern District of California struck down a bill signed into law last year by Democratic California Gov. Jerry Brown that allowed actors to request IMDB.com delete actors’ ages from the database by request. The bill, which received strong support from Hollywood’s largest labor union, was designed to combat ageism in the entertainment industry.
