Currencies: Dollar lifted as another Fed official joins chorus leaning toward March rate hike

The dollar firmed Thursday as yet another Federal Reserve official appeared to back a buck-boosting interest-rate hike sooner rather than later.

The ICE U.S. Dollar Index DXY, +0.25% , which compares the dollar to six major currencies, gained 0.2% to 101.98. Earlier, it rose as high as 102.01, territory last touched on Jan. 4. The WSJ Dollar Index BUXX, +0.36% , a measure of the U.S. dollar against a wider basket of currencies, was up 0.3% at 91.78.
