The Wall Street Journal: NFL says Las Vegas market can support a team

The National Football League has decided that Las Vegas is a viable NFL city, a key determination that gets the Oakland Raiders closer to moving to Sin City.

That decision helps clear the way for the league to potentially put the Raiders’ relocation plan to a vote at the NFL owners meetings later this month. To gain approval, the Raiders have to gain support from 24 of the league’s 32 owners.

Eric Grubman, the NFL’s point-man on stadium issues and relocations, said the league had studied the market for “quite a while” and determined that it has characteristics “similar to some other NFL markets that are successful.
