The Wall Street Journal: Preet Bharara may be gone, but his investigations likely to continue

The sudden departure of Preet Bharara, the top federal prosecutor in Manhattan, isn’t likely to change the course of several high-profile investigations even as it raises uncertainty about his office’s long-term direction.

On Saturday, Bharara was fired as Manhattan U.S. attorney, a day after the Justice Department asked the 46 remaining U.S. attorneys appointed by former President Barack Obama to step down. Bharara, who has served in that role since 2009 and had become prominent with a string of high-profile white-collar and public corruption investigations, refused to resign and was subsequently let go.
