In One Chart: Undocumented immigrants are most likely to work in these jobs

While immigrants, both documented and undocumented, don’t make up the majority of workers in any U.S. industry, they make up the lion’s share of several, mostly low-paid, jobs.

Roughly 36% of plasterers and stucco masons were undocumented workers in 2014, the highest share of any occupation, according to a report released Thursday by the Pew Research Center, a nonprofit think tank in Washington, D.C. Some 30% of miscellaneous agricultural workers, 31% of drywall and ceiling tile installers and 28% of graders and sorters of agricultural products and 23% of sewing machine operators were also undocumented. And 12% of miscellaneous personal appearance workers — manicurists and pedicurists and makeup artists — were undocumented.
