Capitol Report: What to expect when senators question SEC chairman nominee Clayton

When President Donald Trump’s pick for chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission shows up for his confirmation hearing Thursday, Jay Clayton will likely enjoy lavish praise from Republicans for being a “job creator” but harsh criticism from Democrats about his conflicts.

Trump communicated his goals for the agency to Clayton when he announced the nomination on Jan.4. Clayton, said Trump, “will ensure our financial institutions can thrive and create jobs while playing by the rules at the same time.”
