The Wall Street Journal: No more ‘brilliant jerks’: Uber vows to clean up its corporate culture

Uber Technologies Inc., buffeted by a string of recent scandals, sought to reassure customers, drivers and employees Tuesday with the promise of sweeping changes to its corporate culture, its first diversity report and a new chief operating officer.

Director Arianna Huffington, in a call with media, said the ride-hailing firm was well under way with a search for a new executive to serve as a deputy to Chief Executive Travis Kalanick, saying there was no room for “brilliant jerks” at the company.

A series of controversies over the past several weeks has left Uber on the defensive and forced apologies from its normally pugnacious co-founder.
