SportsWatch: Dodgers look to outdraw Cubs for baseball’s opening day

MLB’s most popular opening-day game, based on secondary-market ticket sales, features a battle of Southern California — the San Diego Padres versus the Los Angeles Dodgers, who take the field, like most teams around the league, on April 3.

Demand for that matchup even surpasses the divisional rivalry between the World Series champion Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals, which according to secondary-market ticker broker Vivid Seats, is the second most popular opening-day game sought on their site. The Cubs-Cardinals are scheduled for a Sunday night broadcast on April 2.

Last year’s World Series runner-up Cleveland Indians face the Texas Rangers to round out the top three opening-day games.
