‘The Tinder Opera’ wants young Americans to fall in love with classical music

Given that many operas last four hours or more, an 11-minute opera shouldn’t be hard to sit through. The fact that it’s on YouTube and chronicles a dramatic Tinder date also helps.

The latest in an outreach to younger opera fans? A production based on the lovelorn users of Tinder, the location-based dating app that has become nearly ubiquitous among millennials. What could be more soulful and beautiful or, depending on how the date went at Starbucks SBUX, +0.40% tragic? It’s called “Connection Lost (The Tinder Opera),” a short made-for-internet production that is designed to get younger audience interested in the art.
