The Wall Street Journal: Uber’s communications chief stepping down

Uber Technologies Inc. is losing its communications chief right in the middle of a public-relations crisis for the ride-hailing company.

Rachel Whetstone, who joined Uber in 2015 from Alphabet Inc.’s GOOG, -0.17%GOOGL, -0.22% Google, said in a statement Tuesday she is leaving the company, without citing a reason. The departure comes after a tumultuous couple of months for Uber, which is facing allegations of sexism and sexual harassment, a contentious lawsuit from Google and changes in top management.

“I am incredibly proud of the team that we’ve built — and that just as when I left Google, a strong and brilliant woman will be taking my place,” Whetstone said in the statement.
