The Wall Street Journal: Pioneering New York judge’s body found in Hudson River

A judge for New York’s highest court was found dead in the Hudson River on Wednesday, a law-enforcement official said.

The body of Sheila Abdus-Salaam, a judge on the New York Court of Appeals, was found at about 1:35 p.m. ET in the Hudson River near West 132nd Street and the Hudson River Parkway.

Abdus-Salaam, the first African-American woman to be appointed to the state court of appeals, was reported missing on Tuesday by her husband. Police said she was fully clothed and there were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play. A medical examiner is expected to determine the cause of death.
