10 photos of North Korea’s massive military parade as ‘Frankenmissile’ is unveiled

North Korea displayed what appeared to be new intercontinental ballistic missiles among other military hardware on Saturday at a parade in central Pyongyang commemorating the country’s late founder Kim Il Sung, as current leader Kim Jong Un looked on.

The weapons display comes amid heightened concerns that the country may be preparing for its sixth nuclear test or a missile launch though there was no record of seismic activity from a test site Saturday morning, according to a media report.

The scope of the new missile surprised some weapons experts on Saturday, including one who spoke to The Wall Street Journal, referring to it as a “frankenmissile,” consisting of elements of two other intercontinental ballistic missiles, the KN-08 and KN-14.
