SportsWatch: Always Dreaming wins 2017 Kentucky Derby

Always Dreaming won the 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby Saturday, handing trainer Todd Pletcher his second Derby win and continuing a stretch of five favorites or co-favorites to win America’s most famous horse race. Longshot Lookin at Lee , at 30-1, ran second and Battle of Midway, another longshot at 40-1, ran third.

Always Dreaming, a commanding winner of the Florida Derby in his previous start, picked up the winner’s share of more than $1.2 million, adding to his $650,000 bankroll. The 3-year-old son of Bodemeister has now won four of his six races with a second and third to go along with the victories.
