Here’s what you should do when markets are crumbling

Wednesday’s Wall Street selloff likely felt like a slap in the face for many investors, who have grown accustomed to a quiet market bereft of big moves, particularly to the downside. It remains to be seen whether the drop was a one-day occurrence or the start of a more protracted period of volatility, but in either case, a riskier environment is something investors should know how to deal with.

According to Morningstar, there are a number of factors that investors should evaluate when determining how to act—if at all.
