Notre Dame students walk out on Mike Pence commencement speech

Dozens of graduates and family members silently stood and walked out Sunday as Vice President Mike Pence began his commencement address at the University of Notre Dame.

Pence, the former governor of Indiana which is home to the largely Catholic university in South Bend, was invited to speak after Notre Dame students and faculty protested the prospect of President Donald Trump being invited to become the seventh U.S. president to give the school’s commencement address. Trump has just begun a nine-day foreign policy trip to the Middle East and Europe.

As promised, dozens of new Notre Dame grads leave stadium when VP Pence begins his commencement address.
