In One Chart: Brace yourself, this is how much S&P 500 CEOs received in pay hikes last year…

The average chief executive at a S&P 500 company received a pay raise in 2016 nearly three times the rate of the average worker.

The median total compensation for the CEOs included was totaled $11.5 million last year, an 8.5% increase from the previous year and the largest increase since 2013, a joint report by the Associated Press and the executive pay data firm Equilar released Tuesday found. Not accounting for inflation, CEO pay spiked 19.6%, helped by a buoyant stock market. Of the 346 executives who were in their job at least two years, 21 were female, up from 17 in 2015.
