The Margin: Kathy Griffin apologizes after decapitated Trump photo offends everyone

Comedian Kathy Griffin apologized late Tuesday for posing in a photo shoot holding a fake bloody mask resembling the head of President Donald Trump.

The image, published earlier in the day in a tweet by TMZ, was shot by provocative celebrity photographer Tyler Shields. Griffin and Shields said they intended to make an anti-Trump political statement, but the gruesome image drew immediate backlash from conservatives and liberals alike.

In a tweet, the president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., called it “disgusting but not surprising. This is the left today.
