Key Words: Marc Andreessen says the idea that robots will steal our jobs is a ‘total fallacy’

Concerned about job-eating robots? You’re wasting that anxiety.

That’s according to Marc Andreessen, who co-founded venture capital group Andreessen Horowitz. At Recode’s Code Conference in California late Tuesday, he took specific aim at concerns over self-driving cars, arguing that rather than putting people out of work, they will create many subsidiary industries and, therefore, jobs.

That robots will replace people en masse is simply a “fallacy,” he said.

‘It’s a recurring panic. This happens every 25 or 50 years, people get all amped up about ‘machines are going to take all the jobs’ and it never happens.’
