Uber director resigns after sexist remark during meeting addressing sexism

Billionaire David Bonderman resigned from the board of directors of Uber Technologies Inc. on Tuesday night, after making a sexist remark earlier in the day during an all-hands meeting to discuss matters of sexism at the company.

Bonderman, 74 — chairman and founding partner of private-equity firm TPG — first issued an apology, calling his comments “disrespectful” and “inappropriate.” He later released a new statement, saying: “I need to hold myself to the same standards that we’re asking Uber to adopt. Therefore, I have decided to resign from Uber’s board of directors, effective tomorrow morning.”
