Capitol Report: House Majority Whip Scalise shot at congressional baseball practice

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was among those shot at a congressional baseball game practice in Alexandria, Va.

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and others were shot during a baseball-team practice for Republican members of Congress in Northern Virginia on Wednesday morning.

Rep. Mo Brooks of Alabama told CNN that Scalise appears to have been shot in the hip at the practice in Alexandria, a Washington suburb. Fox News reported that Scalise is expected to be OK.

Brooks said “at least five” people were injured, including two law-enforcement officers. A congressional staffer was also reportedly hit in the chest.
