Chicago Sun-Times parent reportedly has another prospective buyer

CHICAGO (MarketWatch) — The anticipated acquisition of Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Reader publisher Wrapports by Chicago Tribune and Los Angeles Times parent Tronc is apparently on the back burner, with local media watcher Robert Feder reporting Monday that a group including labor unions and other investors and led by Edwin Eisendrath, a former City Council member and Democratic candidate for Illinois governor, was committed to submitting a bid.

Feder quoted Eisendrath as saying the Sun-Times would be positioned as a progressive alternative. “We know why we’re doing it,” Eisendrath is quoted on Feder’s blog as having said. “We know who we are.
