Talk about going out on top: Daniel Day-Lewis announces his retirement

Daniel Day-Lewis, the iconic actor known for his starring roles in “Lincoln,” “Last of the Mohicans,” “There Will Be Blood,” “In the Name of the Father” and many more, announced on Tuesday he would retire at the end of this year, after completing a final film.

“Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor. He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject,” his spokeswoman said in a statement to Variety.
