These famous TV characters could not afford their rent in New York today

Some of the most popular New York City-based sitcoms make viewers laugh, but with their spacious apartments in quaint parts of Manhattan, it could make other viewers cry.

Here are a few examples of shows based in beautiful apartments in nice New York City neighborhoods: “Friends,” “Girls,” “Seinfeld,” “Sex and the City,” “Will and Grace” and “How I Met Your Mother.” Some characters had low-paying jobs, like waiter and publishing, or no jobs, while others were in high-earning careers, such as law and an IT manager. Out of all of them, Jerry Seinfeld’s New York pad was probably the smallest with a kitchenette and a bicycle hanging on the wall.
