Why we should see more kids in college classes

Infants don’t typically attend college classes, but perhaps more should.

That’s one take away from a professor’s email that went viral over the weekend. The note from Sally Hunter, a professor in the University of Tennessee’s department of child and family studies, instructed one of her students who had to miss a class because she couldn’t find child care for her three-month-old baby to just bring the child with her if the issue came up again.

“It was so sweet I started crying,” Morgan King, the student, told the Knoxville News Sentinel of Hunter’s email. King, who goes to classes in the mornings and works in the evenings, typically relies on the child’s grandparents to take care of her, but they, too, sometimes have obligations they can’t miss, leaving King scrambling, she told the outlet.
