Economic Preview: Why hiring in the U.S. is slowing and will continue to slow

Getting good help is hard to find these days with the unemployment rate at a 16-year low.

Only so much water can be wrung out of wet clothes. And only so many people can be hired when the unemployment rate is as low as the U.S.’s is right now.

The U.S. economy likely added about 177,000 jobs in June, according to economists polled by MarketWatch. The official tally will be released by the government Friday morning.

Such an increase would be in keeping with the average monthly gains so far this year. Not bad, but one-third fewer than in 2014, when the U.S.
