How Elon Musk and shorter commutes could transform people’s lives

Elon Musk’s latest project may not just be good for your schedule. It could also be good for your health.

Musk, the chief executive of Tesla Inc. TSLA, +0.18% and founder of SpaceX tweeted Thursday that his business known as “Boring Co.” had received verbal government approval to build a “hyperloop” train, that would run underground through tunnels, essentially like a subway on steroids. Musk said it would make stops in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. The time it would take to go from the Big Apple to the nation’s capital, Musk claims: 29 minutes. That journey now typically takes at least four hours by car or almost three hours by train.
