Capitol Report: Voters golfing with President Trump? That was one Scaramucci idea before his exit

Swinging for it? Fired White House aide Anthony Scaramucci envisioned a national lottery whose winner could play a round of golf with President Trump.

Former White House aide Anthony Scaramucci planned to make nice with the press and even set up a national lottery whose winner could play golf with President Donald Trump before he abruptly left his new job.

These ideas were part of a memo by Scaramucci on how to improve the Trump administration’s image after he hired as the new communications director. He was unceremoniously fired on Aug. 1 one day after writing the memo.

The White House communications, he wrote, needed to do a better job to “humanize” the president and “burnish his image” — perhaps an allusion to Trump’s low standings in the polls.
