The Wall Street Journal: WeWork announces $500 million in funding for Asian expansion

BEIJING — WeWork Cos. raised $500 million to expand operations in South Korea and Southeast Asia, the company announced Monday.

The investment is an addition to WeWork’s announcement late July about a $500 million funding round led by Japan’s SoftBank Group Corp. 9984, +2.36% and China’s Hony Capital to build new office spaces in China beyond Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

WeWork, the New York-based shared-office-space company, said Monday that it also acquired Singapore co-working firm Spacemob in a separate deal. WeWork didn’t identify investors in the latest fundraising round announced on Monday. The company declined to specify the size of the Spacemob acquisition.
