Metals Stocks: Gold futures poised for third straight losing session

Gold futures looked set to extend their declines to a third session Wednesday as a trio of a strengthening dollar, rising stocks and subsiding tensions around the globe weighed on so-called haven assets.

Traders also are awaiting further clues on monetary policy from minutes, set to be released at 2 p.m. Eastern time from the Federal Reserve’s most recent meeting in July, which could influence metals prices.

December gold GCZ7, +0.23% fell $1.80, or 0.1%, to trade at $1,277.90 an ounce. The metal has fallen this week as a war of words between North Korea and the U.S.
