Poland Spring rejects lawsuit claiming it is common groundwater

Poland Spring Water is the subject of a lawsuit that claims it is common groundwater and not sourced from a natural spring in Maine.

The class-action suit, which was filed last week in federal court in Connecticut, alleges that the company’s parent, Nestlé Waters North America, part of the Swiss Nestlé S.A. group NESN, -0.49% is not complying with the federal definition of spring water.

Nestlé Waters North America said in a statement that the claims in the lawsuit are “without merit and an obvious attempt to manipulate the legal system for personal gain.”

The product is 100% spring water and meets all U.S.
