: ‘Hitman’s Bodyguard’ shoots to top of box office as ‘Logan Lucky’ flops

“The Hitman’s Bodyguard” shot its way to the top of the box office in its opening weekend, leaving Stephen Soderbergh’s “Logan Lucky” in the dust.

The R-rated action comedy “The Hitman’s Bodyguard,” starring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson, earned an estimated $21.6 million domestically for producer Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. LGF.A, +1.32% , despite a poor 39% approval rating on film-review site Rotten Tomatoes.

On the other hand, good reviews didn’t help “Logan Lucky.” The NASCAR-themed heist film, starring Channing Tatum, Adam Driver and Daniel Craig, earned a 93% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes but pulled in just $8.1 million, only good for third place.
