The Wall Street Journal: Trump focuses on immigration ahead of Phoenix rally

PHOENIX — President Donald Trump toured a U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility and its equipment, at one point patting the side of a drone, in Yuma, Ariz., Tuesday as he called attention to his immigration policy.

The tour came ahead of an evening campaign rally in Phoenix that prompted concern among local officials about safety issues. The event marks Trump’s first unscripted appearance since a combative news conference last week where he said both sides were to blame for a violent confrontation in Charlottesville, Va., between white nationalists and counterprotesters.

Hours before the rally was set to begin, a small group of anti-Trump protesters briefly squared off against supporters of the president at the city’s convention center, separated by a handful of Phoenix police.
