Currencies: Dollar slumps as Yellen avoids talking about monetary policy

The U.S. dollar took a hit Friday after Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen did not comment on monetary policy in her remarks at a high-profile gathering of central bankers in Jackson Hole, Wyo.

Investors had been looking for clues on the Fed’s policy plans, including the exact timing of its balance sheet unwinding, which is widely expected to kick off in September, but also expected central bankers to be rather tight lipped on any new policy decisions.
