Called to Account: Earnings season is still a headache, and shareholders shouldn’t stand for it

The second-quarter earnings season is drawing to a close, and we at MarketWatch are not sorry to see it go.

Once again, companies added to the stress of wading through the flood of releases in a variety of ways, old and new. We counted many examples of releases that were difficult to access, that lacked key numbers, that had financial tables that were flipped or that were confusing.

These are all issues we have seen and raised as red flags for investors in the past.
