Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, right, takes a question during the daily briefing at the White House on Friday.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin says he’s hopeful about getting a tax-code overhaul done by the end of this year after flatly stating he was “wrong” about finishing a deal by August.

Speaking to reporters at the White House on Friday, Mnuchin said: “Earlier in the year, I said I thought we’d get it done by August, and I was wrong, OK?

“I’m now going to say that I’m very hopeful, and I think we can get this done by the end of the year, but we will continue to revisit it.
