The Wall Street Journal: Trump returns to Gulf Coast to survey damage, meet Harvey victims

Lake Charles, Louisiana—President Donald Trump is making a second trip to the devastated Gulf Coast on Saturday as rescues of residents in East Texas continued amid floodwaters that in some places were still rising.

His visit to Texas and Louisiana comes a day after the White House asked Congress for $7.9 billion for the first round of relief from a disaster that has killed dozens of people, displaced tens of thousands, inundated hundreds of thousands of homes and required thousands of rescues. Governor of Texas Greg Abbott has said the state may need more than $125 billion in aid.

The White House said the president and first lady would visit Houston to meet flood survivors and volunteers and then travel to Louisiana.
