The New York Post: Hurricane Irma picks up strength; threat to East Coast still unclear

Hurricane Irma has strengthened again into a Category 3 storm, although it’s unclear whether it will hit the East Coast by next weekend or curve back out to sea.

The hurricane is currently swirling over the Atlantic about 2,000 miles west of Africa and 1,000 miles east of the Leeward Islands, with winds were nearing 115 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center.

But the center said it was too early to know what impact Irma could have on the Bahamas and United States, where there are no warnings or watches currently in effect.
