Market Extra: Labor Day: Which markets are closed?

U.S. financial markets will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4, in observance of Labor Day.

Because Labor Day is a federal holiday, banks and government offices will be shuttered.

The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association is recommending a closure for the holiday, which means no trading in fixed-income securities such as the 10-year benchmark Treasury note TMUBMUSD10Y, +2.34% .

The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq OMX Exchange will be closed. That means already seasonally slow trading for the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.18% , the S&P 500 index SPX, +0.20% and Nasdaq Composite Index COMP, +0.10% will come to a screeching halt.
