Is Amazon Prime still worth it after monthly price hike?

Shopping with Amazon Prime just got pricier.

Amazon Prime users will now have to pay nearly 20% more per month for memberships, the company announced Friday. It is raising its U.S. monthly fee from $10.99 to $12.99, which works out at $156 per year. The cost of a student membership is also increasing from $5.49 to $6.49 per month. A yearly membership for Amazon Prime still costs $99, paid all at once, which would average out to $8.25 a month.

The change in price comes as Amazon AMZN, +0.10% is increasingly trying to push more users to Prime membership — but is the cost worth it?
