Women who don’t have kids typically earn far more than women who do

Women who wait to have children could see major payoffs in the long run.

The average woman in her 30s who does not have children makes 15% more — or $5,000 more per year — than one who does, an analysis by career site Zippia found. The average annual salary of women ages 30 to 40 without children is $40,004 compared to $34,723 for those with children. And more women are waiting longer to have children: In 2016, for the first time ever, a higher number of women in their early 30s were having babies than younger moms.
