Asia Markets: Asian markets heat up after fresh records on Wall Street; BOJ stays pat

Most Asian stock markets rose further Tuesday morning, with strong U.S. earnings lifting investor confidence.

Major stock indexes in Japan, Hong Kong and South Korea SEU, +1.15% rose as much as 1% by midday after the U.S. Congress voted to end a government shutdown. They rose despite a U.S. move to impose steep tariffs on imports of washing machines and solar panels, which was aimed mainly at Asian producers.

While Samsung Electronics 005930, +1.49% rebounded 0.6% in Seoul to reverse some of Monday’s slide, rival LG Electronics 066570, +0.46% fell 2.3% following the U.S. trade action.
