Tim Mullaney: Fattening 401(k) matches, not one-time bonuses, is how to make America great again

Oh, the irony: A benighted Congress passes a spendthrift, deficit-financed tax cut aimed at corporations and the 1%.

A clueless White House hails companies that offer gimmicky $1,000-per-employee bonuses paid for with tax-cut proceeds, citing them as evidence that an already healthy economy is shaking off a torpor that exists only in President Donald Trump’s head.

And the one company that exploits the tax bill to promote investment and fiscal responsibility by its employees is a credit-card company?

Giggle if you like, but Visa’s plan to boost its 401(k) match is maybe the best news to come out of the tax bill.
