Could hackers be spying on your Tinder?

Be careful who you swipe right on — hackers may be taking note.

Hackers are able to monitor Tinder users’ every move through vulnerabilities in the app’s Android and iOS versions, a report from Tel Aviv security firm Checkmarx found this week. Because the app lacks HTTPS encryption on its photos, anyone on the same Wi-Fi network as a Tinder user can see the same photos they are seeing, and even inject their own images into the photo stream of potential mates that a user swipes through. That’s bad news for someone right-swiping in, say, Starbucks SBUX, -4.23% Hackers could use this security weakness to add viruses or spam to the user’s photo stream.
