We have no idea how much money Google makes from hardware

Alphabet Inc.-owned Google pocketed at least $2.7 billion from hardware sales during the fourth quarter, the company said late Thursday.

Buried in the company’s financial results largely revolving around the search giant’s $27.23 billion advertising business lies the revenue known as Google Other, which banked $4.69 billion. Of that, its cloud division made $1 billion, and the Play Store arm earned less than $1 billion — leaving at least $2.7 billion in hardware sales left over.

While cloud was the largest contributor in the third quarter, and remains a fast-growing segment, Google’s new lineup of hardware, announced in October, likely made a significant contribution — especially with the seasonal boost from holiday sales, Alphabet Chief Financial Officer Ruth Porat hinted at on the third-quarter conference call with analysts.
