Deep Dive: These Dow and S&P 500 stocks have taken the worst beatings

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell another 4.1% on Thursday, bringing a drop since Feb. 1 to 8.9%.

Analysts typically use the term “correction” for a decline of 10% or more, and “bear market” if a stock index drops at least 20%. The Dow is now down 3.5% for 2018, following last year’s 25.1% gain.

The worst Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -4.15% stock on Thursday was American Express Co. AXP, -5.63% which fell 5.6% and declined 6.4% from a week earlier. The shares are now down 11% for 2018, following a 34.1% gain in 2017.
